What To Know Before You Call a Tow Truck
The five pieces of information a good dispatcher needs, and how having them ready cuts your wait time in half.
Before you dial, take 30 seconds to gather these five things:
1. Your exact location. Cross streets, mile marker, or the business you're in front of. 'Somewhere on Speedway' costs you 20 minutes.
2. Vehicle year, make, model, and any mods. This tells dispatch which truck to send. A lifted F-250 and a lowered Miata need very different equipment.
3. Where the car is going. Home? A specific shop? Some shops close at 5pm — after-hours drop-offs may need coordination.
4. What's wrong. Won't start, flat tire, in a ditch, hit-and-run damage. The more specific, the better the ETA.
5. Payment method. Cash, card, PayPal, insurance claim. Sorting this on the phone means no delay at drop-off.
